Global Energy supports PEMEX petrochemicals project
19 Jun 2011

Mexican state oil company Pemex (Petróleos Mexicanos) is in process to modernize and expand its aromatics production at the La Cangrejera petrochemicals complex in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz state, Mexico. Global Energy Engineers are supporting the project in construction- and commissioning management positions as well in the field of process engineering.

The project's first phase includes the construction of a unit with platforming technology, for continuous catalyst regeneration, as well as integrating the new units with the current ones. The project will improve the efficiency of naphtha use, cutting the amount of raw material needed for the production process. In addition, upon conclusion of the project Pemex expects to reduce imports of petrochemicals. The project's second phase consists of doubling paraxylene output.
